Adur & Worthing Council Services LibDems call for recycling incentive scheme

Cheshire council residents in Halton earn points for recycling which can be spent in local shops and restaurants and at next months Council meeting local Liberal Democrats will be calling for Worthing residents to be offered a similar deal as they move a motion on improved recycling.

Different Strokes is a registered charityPeople who have suffered a stroke and are under 60 are being asked if they would like to take part in an exercise class designed specially for their needs.  Adur and Worthing councils and the Sidney Walter Centre are working with the charity ‘Different Strokes’ to encourage younger stroke survivors to take up gentle exercise.

The plan was written by the Adur and Worthing Local Strategic Partnership, which includes, Adur and Worthing Councils, West Sussex County Council, the police, health, voluntary organisations and businesses.  The priorities set have been shaped by the views of local people and a range of evidence.

With parks providing the perfect location for families during the school holidays, Highdown Gardens in Worthing has been recognised for the 10th year running as one of the country’s best green spaces with a prestigious Green Flag Award today (Wednesday July 28, 2010).

Green Flag Awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country and Highdown Gardens stood out after impressing the judges with its excellent use of green space, well-maintained facilities and high standard of safety and security.

Building work is underway on the £500,000 Splash Point ‘cultural’ makeover.   Work is expected to be complete by the 18 October with a big Halloween party on the 30 October to celebrate Worthing’s sparkling new seaside attraction.

Worthing High SchoolSchool children in Adur and Worthing are having a day with a difference during the next week aimed to keep them safe and well during the summer holiday. 

Adur and Worthing councils community wellbeing and the safer communities team have organised the be safe, be well days which will replace normal lessons for a day.   The day is for young people in the first year of senior school and will provide them with practical information and guidance on issues that young people could face during the summer holidays.

Tarring Recreation Ground Thursday,  August 5th from 10am to 3pm

The Tarring Fun Day - organised by Adur & Worthing’s'  Safer Communities Team, the Youth Service, Your local Liberal Democrat councillors and the Police -  is a  not-for-profit community event, where local residents get the chance to take part in a range of  activities, many of them free or cheap. The day has been organised to provide activities for local people and promote community spirit in the local area.
